The Struggle is Real, part 1
From its earliest beginnings in the metal building behind my house, the vision for OUTsideIN to be a viable social enterprise was rooted in the idea that we sell our products in the online marketplace. None of us believed that we could sustain our mission, much less grow, without tapping into e-commerce. It’s taken us awhile to learn how and to create a website that’s attractive and effective in presenting what we do and what we sell. That's partly because we did it all ourselves in an effort to avoid spending our meager revenues on things like consulting or web development support. But we like the OUTsideINworks.com website now, and think that you will, too.
That's the background. The next paragraph is me being real with you about the struggle we face every day..
WE NEED TO SELL STUFF! It’s been weeks since we had even one sale on our online store. Would you have guessed that? People see our cheery posts on Facebook and Instagram highlighting our beautiful HangUPS garment bags and think “those gals in Troy have got it going on.” And while it’s true that we are very positive about what we do and why we do it, the reality is that we simply can’t do it without you, our customers.
In an effort to change this sad state of our online sales, we are offering FREE SHIPPING, now through Mother's Day 2018..We hope this will make shopping with us a much better experience.
Yesterday, when I went to buy stamps, I learned that their price had gone up again. Now, a US postage stamp will cost you fifty cents. This is just a small example of some of the cost associated with running a social enterprise that you may not have considered before. There are lots of others too. To name just a few - electricity, insurance and sewing machine repairs. But we are willing to absorb the cost of shipping your products to you simply because we need you to “make a purchase that will make a difference.” Our HangUPS make awesome gifts for birthdays, graduation or Mother’s and Father’s day, all coming up soon. Please see this as an opportunity to get those purchases marked off your list and save on shipping at the same time.
My mother claimed that my first sentence as a child was “I can do it myself.” Unfortunately, this attitude has not always served me well in life. Now that I’m well into the second half of said life, I’ve come to realize that I can’t do it all myself. Nor, do I even want to. We’re all in this together and OUTsideIN needs you. Please go to the OUTsideINworks.com shop today and make a purchase, big or small. I know you'll find something beautiful that you can enjoy yourself or give as a gift. Trust me, it will make a difference.
